10 Best Female Characters In The Batman Universe

1. Harley Quinn

One of the later debutants in Batman’s life, Harley Quinn was created for Batman: The Animated Series in the early nineties, though made the jump to comics soon after. After recent performances from Margot Robbie, her stock is at an all time high, but even before Robbie tied her hair up in bunches, she was one of the best women Gotham had to offer.

Like Ivy, she’s been switched into antihero mode more often recently, although that’s more down to her popularity than any noble cause. After stealing the show in Suicide Squad, Harley looks set to do so again in Birds of Prey, as well as having recent success in the Kaley Cuoco-voiced cartoon.

As Joker’s deranged sidekick, she was initially a one note obsessive who adored Mistah Jay no matter what. Over time though, her backstory as his corrupted therapist fleshed her out, along with her fighting against this abusive relationship to gain her own agency.

This has transformed into a more likeable, relatable and all around better character, seeing her skyrocket to the top of the Gotham women.
