The names, Truett Hudson and Abraham Cornelius, may not ring a bell but you have definitely heard of the work; they are the masterminds behind Weapon X. Weapon X is a clandestine military facility that turns participants into super-soldiers through horrific genetic experiments. Hudson (who is a distant relative to Wolverine) oversaw the facility. His top scientist, Abraham Cornelius, believed the best way to create a super-soldier was to bond indestructible adamantium to one's skeleton.

Since this procedure would kill a normal human, it had to be performed on a mutant with a healing factor. (Cornelius learned this theory from papers written by Dr. Nathaniel Essex AKA Mister Sinister.)

Wolverine agreed to the procedure, having no idea that Weapon X would erase his memory. The experiment caused Logan to lose all trace of civility, leaving him as a mindless animal. He forgot his family, his friends, his name, and even lost the ability to speak.

Although Wolverine regained his humanity years later, Weapon X have spent years kidnapping him, torturing his loved ones, and killing his teammates. Wolverine has tangled with villains like Magneto and Sabretooth many times but no one has been a bigger thorn in his side than Weapon X.
