10 Marvel Heroes Who Underwent RADICAL Transformations

During Nick Spencers run on Captain America, Steve was revealed to be a Hydra sleeper agent as the Red Skull had rewritten his mind and personal history with a cosmic cube. Cap managed to work his way up S.H.I.E.L.D.'s ranks, and his plan form into place as it culminates in the Secret Empire event.

Cap initiates major incidents as New York is sieged by villains and the Chitauri sending wave after wave of drones at the planet. In the chaos, Cap receives emergency powers from the president so he gains access to all of the USA's resources, he then activates a planetary defence system makes Zemo use the Darkholme, a magical tome that amplified a villain named Blackout's powers. These two acts trapped many Marvel heavy hitters outside of the planet and in the dark dimension making it easy for Steve to lead Hydra and take control of the United States.

The remaining heroes formed two small teams to defeat Hydra Cap as they realised that he had betrayed them. One team hunted the fragments of Cosmic Cube to change Cap back and fix the world, while the other attempted to assassinate him. In the end, the heroes suffered many losses but managed to reform the Cosmic Cube and bring back the original Steve Rogers who swiftly defeating his evil counterpart with the aid of Mjolnir.

Hydra Cap remains a lingering reminder for the heroes and everyday people to be careful who you put your faith and trust in.
