7. Krakoa
Krakoa is the name of a sentient island which was first encountered by the X-men when it trapped the original four members inside it, leaving the Earth X-men-less. It is also responsible for the murder of half of the initial rescue team which triggered the rise of the evil Summers brother, Gabriel aka Vulcan.
Luckily for our heroes, the second rescue attempt was successful and it also introduced us to the likes of Colossus, Storm and Nightcrawler who would go on to become fan favourites. Once Krakoa was defeated, it was assumed that that was the last of the living island.
Fast forward to post-Schism X-men and we see the newest iteration of the Hellfire Club planted a Krakoa on the grounds where Wolverine was to build the new Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. Although initially hostile, during the reveal of Krakoa and it's ambush on the X-men, Quentin Quire was able to access the creature's mind and calm it. After reasoning with the being, the X-men decided not to move the school but to coexist with Krakoa.
