10 Biggest Downgrades In MCU History
2. The Scarlet Witch
While the incoming Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness does look set to finally treat us to the sight of a Wanda Maximoff who can truly live up to the level of sheer power and menace her comic book self has been showcasing for an age, it has to be said that The Scarlet Witch showcased within the MCU up to this point has been at best inconsistent and at worst depressingly dialled back.
Arriving alongside her also rather lacklustre brother in Age of Ultron, this ensemble epic did at least give us a glimpse at what her chaos magic could achieve when truly let loose. Outside of thankfully leaning into her untapped abilities throughout WandaVision, though, Elizabeth Olsen's version of the much-loved character has often been reduced to nothing more than a few eye-catching soundbites and numerous heart-breaking losses.
Easily classed as one of the most powerful beings in all of the Marvel Comics universe, Wanda's understanding of chaos magic has seen her create hurricanes from scratch, project herself into the Astral Plane, manipulate biology and heal others in the process, pull off various forms of energy manipulation, control gravity, show off necromancy abilities, and boast reality and soul manipulation skills, to seriously name but a few.
Though it does now seem as though we're about to see The Scarlet Witch's real potential unleashed on the big screen, Marvel Studios still likely have a tall order on their hands if they're aiming to match up their Wanda with the one who's been dominating the page.
