10 Horror Movies That Will Put You Off Travelling After Watching
6. Horror Express
Few names in horror history have the level of appeal and fandom as Sir Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, and when you put the two of these icons in a picture, it's guaranteed to be something special.
One such Lee and Cushing team-up came back in 1972 with Eugenio MartÃn's Horror Express.
Set in 1906, this tale plays out on the Trans-Siberian Express from Shanghai to Moscow, with Lee's Professor Saxton transporting a frozen creature he believes to be the missing link. For Cushing, he plays Dr. Wells, a friendly rival of Saxton's, and the pair become involved in a desperate fight to survive when Saxton's specimen defrosts and partakes in a murder spree mid-journey.
Given the year of its release, its setting and its main stars, there is very much a whiff of 'stiff upper lip' to Horror Express, but that doesn't spoil the charm and terror of Eugenio Martin's movie. And given how the Trans-Siberian Express is a trip that spans a mammoth 4,735 miles across six nights, the thought of being stuck on board with a prehistoric killing machine is the stuff of nightmares - regardless of the "We're British, you know?" approach on display.
