10 Upcoming Blockbusters That Could Massively Disappoint

5. Terminator: Genisys (July 1, 2015)

Despite the fact that there hasn't been a great Terminator movie in nearly a quarter of a century, the franchise will return to theaters next year in the form of Terminator: Genisys, quite possibly one of the worst movie titles in recent memory. After the disappointment of Terminator Salvation and a protracted legal battle for the rights to the franchise that stalled development, the mythology and continuity of the series will be rebooted for the second time in just six years. The burning question remains; does the world really need another Terminator movie? Terminator Salvation was hyped up to be a new beginning for the franchise, giving audiences the future war they had been wanting to see ever since James Cameron teased it in his two classics. Instead, it turned out to be a tedious and generic sci-fi blockbuster, with even Arnold Schwarzenegger remarking that they had 'missed the boat' with the project. Unfortunately, there is every reason to assume that Terminator: Genisys will do much the same. While director Alan Taylor has proven himself as a more than capable television director, his work on Thor: The Dark World left a lot to be desired. The movie did have its moments, but it remains one of the weakest entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which is hardly encouraging given that he has moved on to yet another big budget effects-laden fantasy blockbuster. Screenwriters Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier hardly have the best track records either; with Lussier in particular having a worryingly terrible CV as both a writer and director. Casting-wise the project has gathered a solid ensemble, but after the great work done by Michael Biehn and Anton Yelchin the charisma-free lump of wood that is Jai Courtney takes on the pivotal part of Kyle Reese, which is a major worry given his limitations as an actor in such a key role. Schwarzenegger's return to the franchise is a welcome one, as is the casting of the talented Jason Clarke as John Connor, but Terminator: Genisys still has all of the makings of another instantly forgettable entry in a franchise that is coming awfully close to overstaying its welcome.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
