10 Worst MCU Villains Of 2021
1. Dreykov (Black Widow)
Whose idea was it to cast Ray Winstone as a Russian villain in the MCU? The Marvel Studios casting department rarely ever misses the mark, but they have never missed quite like they did with Black Widow’s nemesis.
The English actor’s accent was kind of Russian, with a distinct Cockney twang that was both impossible to ignore, and difficult to take seriously. This was really the only thing that stood out about the character, as overall he was one of the most boring and generic villains the MCU has ever presented.
He was the man in charge of the Red Room, and was essentially responsible for both Natasha and Yelena being taken away from their adoptive parents. He ultimately came back into Nat’s life as he tried to kill her sister after she stole the Red Dust and attempted to take his control away from the Black Widow assassins.
His entire motivation seemed to be power for the sake of power. There was no depth to his character, no nuance, subtlety, or really any character development at all. It seemed almost that Marvel Studios wanted to make a Black Widow movie to revolve around Scarlett Johansson, with the villain and actual story being little more than afterthoughts.
