7 Reasons Ben Affleck Will Be The Best Movie Batman

3. He Has Some Serious Weight On His Shoulders

It's alluded to throughout the trailers, but the Bruce Wayne being portrayed in Batman v Superman is one that's lugging around some serious emotional and physical baggage. Unlike previous incarnations of the character, this is a fully formed Batman, with years of experience and trauma under his belt. Val Kilmer's Bruce Wayne was probably the closest an audience got to seeing the weight of responsibility on his shoulders; so haunted by his parents' death that his only way out was to take on the mantle of a gigantic bat. Affleck appears to have the same sort of baggage, but in a much broader sense. There's an obvious nod in the trailer to the fact that this version of the character has already met and fought with The Joker previously, and is haunted by his previous encounters with Leto's clown prince of crime and the rest of his vast rogues gallery. Backed up with the brief glimpse of the defaced Robin outfit we get in the trailer, and the feeling becomes apparent that years of fighting crime may mean his parents' death may not be the only death hanging over his head, prompting his retirement - A Death in the Family flashback anyone? It all leads to richer and more interesting character development and an angrier Bat.
