8 Most Unexplainable Horror Movie Moments

1. The Fly & Nosebleed Scene In 'The Ring'

The Ring
DreamWorks Pictures

The Ring offered an interesting take on cursed items by using a strange videotape in lieu of an artifact or supernatural item. When a character watched the tape, they were then called on the telephone, and a strange voice whispers "Seven days," without any additional information. Essentially, the viewer had a week to live after watching the tape.

When Rachel Keller finds the tape and receives the phone call, she dives into it with an investigation to try and ascertain what all of the strange imagery might mean. She's also interested in finding a way to break the curse, which she eventually does by making a copy.

When she's reviewing the tape closely, she gets to a scene that has a fly walking about the glass, as if it's in the video as well as the real world. She pays close attention to the fly, and as she scrutinizes the insect, she reaches toward the screen and plucks it from the tape.

When she does this, her nose begins to bleed, and the creep-factor shoots through the roof. While this was an enticing and frightening visual, it wasn't explained in any real way. Sure, it's a cursed videotape that leads to the viewer's death, but it shouldn't allow for such an impossible act without some explanation.
