As is to be expected with such a momentous Hollywood shake-up, there have been no shortage of rumours and theories floating around regarding the future of the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, so let's quickly run down two tidbits that aren't big enough for their own entries.

First up: We Got This Covered is claiming that Marvel has plans for a "cosmic" Fantastic Four movie based on the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic book series. The film versions of the characters will reportedly be in the 20-to-30-year-old range, with the site adding that Doctor Doom will not be the villain, in order to differentiate this new movie from the Fox ones.

Of course, even if this is true, the project will be in the very early stages of development (bearing in mind what we mentioned earlier), so things could always change before release.

Next up: earlier this year, Shuler Donner "indicated" that Wolverine would be recast in the MCU, according to /Film - though she didn't rule out the idea that Hugh Jackman could one day return. There's been a lot of fan support around the idea of Jackman returning to the role that made his name, but honestly, things really don't look good on that front. Expect a younger Wolverine to enter the MCU in his place.

Here's what Donner had to say on the subject:

“This man [Jackman] worked so hard to bulk up... his natural state is a very skinny guy. Once you reach a certain age, the body just won’t go anymore. I think he was wise to say, ‘I’m at that point. I can’t do it.’ Now, that doesn’t mean he can’t come back as older Wolverine. You never know. Future Wolverine, you never know.”

It would honestly be terrific to see Jackman play a much older Wolverine in the MCU one day, but the actor has remained firm on his decision to depart the role with Logan, so who knows if he'll ever be open to strapping on the claws once again.
