Man Utd Transfers: 11 Signings Louis Van Gaal Must Make Immediately

3. Mario Gotze

Current Club: Bayern Munich Fresh reports have just surfaced that Bayern Munich's attacker Mario Gotze has expressed his displeasure with his limited first-team opportunities at the Allianz Arena, since signing in the summer from Dortmund for £32.5m. So far, he has started just 29 games in all competitions, and though he has scored 15 goals and set up 13 in that time, the 21 year old is apparently far from happy at his supporting role for Munich, which has alerted English clubs, with United among them, of his situation. Gotze is likely to play a big part for Germany this summer, and a strong tournament might well see Munich re-evaluating his standing in the squad, but they may also see it as an opportunity to recuperate a similar fee to what they played to invest in the team, in the hope that their Champions League failure this season can be fixed for next year. And with Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski joining up, Gotze might see his opportunities even further limited.
"Of course I am not happy (with first-team action). But I will continue to work hard and fight for a place in the first XI. I hope I am able to regain the trust of the manager and play regularly from the start."
Quite how Van Gaal would fit Gotze into his team would remain to be seen, especially with Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie on the bill, but there's every chance Chelsea might reignite their interest in Rooney in the summer, and the fast, productive striker would be the perfect answer to adding more mobility and more goals to the United front-line, as well as complimenting RVP.
