Vice Admiral Rae Sloane - later Grand Admiral - was one of the Empire's highest-ranking members after the Battle of Endor, and a founder of the First Order.

Loyal to the Emperor and even foiling an assassination attempt on him, Sloane was a strong military leader who tried to rebuild the Empire after his death. Enacting Operation Cinder after the Battle of Endor and regrouping what remained of the Imperial Fleet in the Unknown Regions, it was her unstoppable commitment to her cause which made her greatly feared.

Originally commanding a Star Destroyer during the dogfight over the Second Death Star, Sloane's military might grew when Fleet Admiral Piett and Moff Jerjerrod perished in the conflict. Part of Star Wars Battlefront II and various novels and comics, Sloane was also responsible for inciting the Battle of Jakku and the onslaught which occurred there.

During that final battle for power between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, Sloane's forces were all but destroyed on The Force Awaken's desert planet.

Working closely with General Armitage Hux - father of Brendol Hux from the Sequel Trilogy - Sloane was assigned as Grand Admiral and retreated to the Unknown Regions to build a new Empire. This Empire would be devised from the late Emperor's plans and would be a new threat for the Galaxy.

Establishing the First Order, this new Imperial army would rise up to challenge the New Republic and the Resistance in the coming decades.
