FIFA 21 Review: 6 Ups & 7 Downs

1. Interactive Match Sim Is Seamless

Start celebrating.

Simmed matches in Career Mode are no longer dicey affairs that often result in away draws or losses just because you're not the home team. FIFA 21's 'Interactive Match Sim' option means you can take immediate control of the game at any point.

Losing 2-0 after 30 minutes and want to put things right? Do it. Locked at 1-1 after 85 minutes, but want to bring on your new striker for a morale-boosting winner? It's your right. This is nothing new to sports games (Madden has been doing it for years), but it's fresh in FIFA. That's enough to make it the best addition to EA's series in some time.

There appears to be less chance of a red card in simmed games too, and there's a Football Manager-lite sheen to the system overall. This is something that should extend Careers beyond the first couple of seasons. It's seamless, well-implemented and means you'll avoid end-of-season losses.
