2K25's 'The Island' is being likened to 'The City' from the dev team's NBA franchise, but nobody really knows for sure what this will look like just yet. Basically, 'The Island' (Of Relevancy) is a hub you can explore and challenge other wrestlers. The storyline gist linking everything together revolves around impressing Roman Reigns to the point your MySuperstar is offered a WWE contract in the end.

Interestingly, 2K’s own blurb for the mode says players will “rule beyond the ring”. Some WCW Backstage Assault weirdness incoming, perhaps? Yes, yes it would almost certainly be better than anything that disaster had to offer, but it does sound like 2K plans to push the whole 'Backstage Brawl' thing into new areas. Why not? They've got enough modes that offer tidy in-ring action if this isn't your thing.

It's also worth pointing out that 'The Island' is a next gen exclusive. So, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players will get to grips with the new mode, but those who still buy these games on PS4, Xbox One etc won't. That's understandable. It'll take a lot of power to make something like this reality, so it makes sense that 2K want to exclusively focus on making 'The Island' the best it can be on more modern hardware.

There's bound to be a lot of interest from fans in seeing exactly what this 'Island' looks like. Roman's inclusion and The Bloodline framing going on in 2K25 generally does drop some hints. Everyone will be praying that this hub world works out, because it could help drive WWE games forward for years to come if successful.
