That's not the only new match type set to be introduced this year.

The Bloodline takes centre stage in WWE 2K25 thanks to Roman Reigns gracing the cover, a 'Bloodline Edition' being available to fans, the Showcase and more. By "more", we mean the addition of a 'Bloodline Rules' match. It'll be a twisted nightmare for anyone who started to hate on Roman's lengthy stint on top with the belt, but 2K's mechanics make it sound like a blast to mess around with.

Here are the basics: Two wrestlers start the brawl, and each can trigger up to three run ins on their behalf. These are deployed like finishers, so you build up a meter then use them whenever suits. That adds another tactical later to the gameplay, which sounds way more in-depth than the admittedly flimsy sounding 'Underground' matches.

Say you pick Solo Sikoa for this. You'll then be able to designate up to three run-in wrestlers to help you in battle. Logically, most would go for Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu. Rumour has it you can even script Loa to fall over during his entrance. OK, not really. There's no option to spam taunt Jacob screaming, "I LOVE YOU, SOLO!" either.

Individual interest in this will vary depending on how much you've enjoyed The Bloodline's epic family story. However, even if you weren't a big fan of it, you'll have another match type to make 2K25 more interesting anyway. It's somewhat of a surprise 2K didn't plump for the 'Tribal Combat' name instead of 'Bloodline Rules', but here we are.
