Oleksandr Usyk has only had nine fights as a professional but there is already a feeling that he could be the best in the cruiserweight division.

The Ukrainian southpaw is a standout amateur in the higher weights having been crowned European champion at light-heavyweight and world and Olympic champion at heavyweight. His success at London 2012 was all the more impressive for overcoming another high-level boxer in Artur Beterbiev in the last eight.

Usyk did not make his debut in the paid ranks until 13 months after the Olympics but since making his bow, he has stopped each of his nine opponents.

A southpaw with power and who possesses an outstanding amateur record is any fighter's worst nightmare and in a weight class where superior skills can prove the difference between men competing at 200lbs, he has the potential to dominate over the next few years.

An injury has forced him out of a recent defence of his fringe WBO belt but he is already ranked in first position with the organisation and he could potentially face either Krzysztof Głowacki or Steve Cunningham before the end of the year.
