10. Carl Froch
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPbgc4PVJD8 Alias: The Cobra Division: Super Middleweight Age: 36 Country: Great Britain Record: 32-2 (23 KOs) Titles: Current IBF & WBA World Super Middleweight Champion Nottingham's Carl Froch is on an incredible run of competing in 11 straight world titles fights, in which he has only experienced defeat twice in that period, to super middleweight greats André Ward and Mikkel Kessler. Froch's journey began when he captured the vacant WBC super middleweight title against Jean Pascal in December 2008. Froch gained the unanimous decision after 12 brutal rounds in his home city of Nottingham. His first defence came on the road, travelling to Connecticut, USA to face former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor. Froch was down in round three and behind on points, but sensationally came back to stop Taylor with just seconds remaining on the clock in the twelfth and final round. 'The Cobra' returned to Nottingham for his next defence, the start of the 'Super Six' tournament. His gained a split decision win over American André Dirrell, which split many pundits and fans on who deserved to win the fight. Come April 2010, however, Froch's luck ran out, as he dropped a decision and his title to Mikkel Kessler, in Kessler's homeland of Denmark. An injury to Kessler meant that Froch was able to fight for the vacant WBC title in Finland in the next round of the 'Super Six'. Arthur Abraham was the opponent and Froch gained a near shut-out points win to re-capture his WBC strap. Glen Johnson then awaited in Atlantic City, USA in the semi finals of the 'Super Six', with Froch gaining a majority points win. The Final of the 'Super Six' was also held in Atlantic City, this time WBA champion André Ward was the opponent in a world title unification fight. The undefeated, technically minded Ward was able to keep Froch at bay for the majority of the bout, before claiming a unanimous points win over 'The Cobra'. This marked only the second loss of Froch's career. Eddie Hearn, promoter of Froch, was able to land him another shot at a world title in his very next fight in May 2013. Froch's career was practically on the line against then unbeaten IBF champion Lucian Buté. The scene was again the Nottingham Arena, and Froch completely blew Buté out of the water, sensationally stopping him in the fifth round to become a 3 time champion of the world. A routine stoppage of Yusuf Mack came in late 2012, before agreeing a rematch with Mikkel Kessler for May 2013. Kessler was the WBA champion at the time, with Froch holding the IBF crown, it was another unification match. Froch fought well behind his jab for the most part, and showed great grit and determination when the going got tough. Eventually, Froch avenged his prior to defeat to Kessler, winning by unanimous decision after 12 exhilarating rounds of action in front of a packed out O2 Arena in London. In his most recent fight, Carl Froch took on George Groves in a huge domestic 'Battle of Britain' at the Phones4u Arena in Manchester in November 2013. The fight ended in controversial circumstances as referee appeared to stop the fight prematurely, waving off Groves' challenge as Froch gained a TKO victory in the ninth stanza. Granite chinned Froch had been put on the canvas in the first round, before being dominated for much of the following seven rounds. 'The Cobra' was able to land successive shots in the 9th round, but the stoppage was much to dismay of the sold out crowd. Groves appealed the decision of the referee and the IBF have since called for an immediate rematch. Froch must fight Groves or risk losing his IBF title, but other options on the table include defending his WBA belt against Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. or Genndady Golovkin in huge bouts in the United States.
