https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y94ju0QK-cI Alias: Pacman Division: Welterweight Age: 35 Country: Philippines Record: 55-5-2 (38 KOs) Titles: Former World Champion in 8 Weight Divisions Manny Pacquiao began his career at light flyweight, won his first world title at flyweight and worked his way up to winning a world title at light middleweight, a record breaking achievement in winning world titles in eight different weight classes. The Pacman rose to prominence whilst campaigning at featherweight and super featherweight during the mid 2000s, which saw epic battles with Mexican trio Juan Manuel Marquez, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera. He then knocked out David Diaz in mid 2008 to capture the WBC lightweight title. December 2008 then saw Pacquiao reach super-stardom. He jumped up two weight divisions to dominate legend Oscar De La Hoya, who retired at the end of the eighth stanza following a mauling in pretty much every round. A step down to light welterweight saw Pacquiao achieve the Knockout of the Year, brutally stopping Ricky Hatton in the second round for the RING title. A savage 12th round stoppage of Puerto Rican legend Miguel Cotto followed, in which Pacquiao captured the WBO welterweight title; A title he then defended with a near shutout points win over Joshua Clottey in front of 50,000 fans at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA. In late 2010, The Cowboys Stadium was the scene again as he won the WBC light middleweight championship, another near shutout against Antonio Margarito. A step back down to welterweight followed as he successfully defended his WBO belt in similar fashion against Shane Mosley, who was knocked down in the third round, on the way to another lopsided points win for the Pacman. November 2011 saw Pacquiao retained his WBO welterweight crown with a majority decision win over long time rival Juan Manuel Marquez in their third contest. It was a contested result, with many pundits and fans alike feeling that Marquez had done enough to topple the champion. Ironically, however, Pacquiao was then on the wrong end of an even more controversial decision in mid 2012, when he dropped his WBO welterweight strap to Timothy Bradley via split decision. Pacquiao then met Marquez for a fourth time in December 2012, in the Fight of the Year. Both men had been knocked to the canvas, but Pacquiao was leading the fight on points before walking onto a right hand in the dying seconds of the sixth round. Pacquaio was knocked out cold, with many fans questioning whether he would return to the ring. But that he did, after taking a break from the sport, The Pacman returned in dominating fashion against Brandon Rios last November, recording yet another lopsided points win which put Pacquiao firmly back into the mix in the welterweight division. Pacquiao returns in April for a rematch with Timothy Bradley for the WBO welterweight title.
