2. Man United 3-2 AC Milan, 2007
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ivz-wYaDTM For much of the first half, it looked like the Kaka show. The year was April 2007, when the Brazilian playmaker was truly in his prime. It was the first leg of a Champions League semi-final, and for 45 minutes he completely ran the show. This was an AC Milan team coached by Carlo Ancelotti, who were on course for their third Champions League final in five seasons. With the likes of Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini, Andrea Pirlo, Clarence Seedorf and of course the Brazilian artist among their ranks, it looked like it might be a bridge too far for the Mancunians when they showed up to blitz the Red Devils in the first half at the Theatre of Dreams. Cristiano Ronaldo had given United a surprise lead after fifth minutes with a well-timed header, only for the Milanese giants to equalise through the Brazilian maestros angled drive after 21 minutes. Just before the interval, Kaka bamboozled the entire Manchester United back-line to add his second and leave the Red Devils facing down the barrel of a gun. However, they were to emerge a wild beast in the second, spurred on by a vivacious crowd, backing them against the odds to overturn the Italian giants and their Brazilian superstar. Wayne Rooney levelled matters just before the hour mark, before lifting the roof of the stadium by powering home a 20 yard winner deep into injury-time. It was Roy of the Rovers stuff, and capped a remarkable second half for a staunch Man United outfit that stood up to the might of Milan and got their just rewards. Unfortunately, the adrenaline and feel-good factor didnt carry on into the second leg, and their hopes were extinguished on a rainy San Siro pitch, as they were outclassed by three goals to nil.
