10 Best Man Utd Performances This Decade

3. Man City 2-3 Man United, 2012

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ABnHQl4PU8 It was arguably Manchester United€™s greatest performance in the Premier League over the last decade, and it came when they needed it most. Sir Alex Ferguson must have known that it was going to be his final season at the club, and he wanted to go out on the top, having turned the music back down on the €˜noisy neighbours€™. It was a derby that had everything - goals, late drama and a flurry of excitement, as the pendulum swung from both ends. Ferguson knew a win at Eastlands would see them move six points clear at the top of the Premier League table - a healthy lead in December. The title holders were immediately on the back foot, as the Red Devils stormed into an early lead, with Wayne Rooney notching two goals before the break. A shell-shocked City struggled to get a foothold in the game, and with City captain Vincent Kompany having limped off midway through the first half, the omens were looking good for the Red Devils. However, Yaya Toure reignited the flame in a stagnant City side, before Pablo Zabaleta rifled home a late equaliser to leave Ferguson furiously chewing his gum to dust. However, in the dying moments, a free-kick was won just outside the Manchester City box. This was Robin van Persie territory. Striking it well and true, his curling strike found its€™ way into the far corner of the net via a deflection off Samir Nasri, culminating in sheer ecstasy and jubilation in the away end.
