10 Best Players Of The 2018 World Cup
8. Kieran Trippier
France's Benjamin Pavard was a bit of a revelation, Belgium's Thomas Meunier was brilliant, and Croatia's Sime Vrsaljko was very impressive too, but the best full back of the tournament was surely England's Kieran Trippier. In fact, despite Harry Kane's heroics, there's a big argument to be made that Trippier was the Three Lions' best player overall.
He was certainly the most consistent performer in the squad, constantly receiving high ratings in almost every category and setting up more scoring opportunities than any other defender. In total, Trippier made 24 chances for his teammates, which is an English record and far surpassed Bobby Charlton's previous high score of 18, set in 1966.
Trippier capped off his campaign with a marvellous free kick against Croatia and is a player whose stock has risen enormously over the last few weeks. His tournament took a tragic turn when he picked up a little injury and was forced to leave his teammates to play 10 vs 11 for the final minutes of the Croatia game, but he gave everything he had and can look back on this World Cup with a lot of pride.
