10 Best Spanish Players In Premier League History

7. Cesar Azpilicueta

While Cesar Azpilicueta may not be considered one of the best Spanish defenders of all time, nor one the best Premier League ones, his solidity, versatility and leadership earns him a place on this list.

Azpilicueta, or Dave as he is also known, joined Chelsea from Olympique Marseille for just £7 million in 2012, which has turned out be an absolute bargain. No matter where he plays, whether it be left-back, right-back or even centre-half in a back three, Azpilicueta has always given his all.

His ability to adapt to different positions with ease, is a quality not commonly found in most defenders, and it is one that has seen him become a quintessential part of the Blues’ starting XI for over eight years.

While many Chelsea players often fall out of favour with the revolving door of coaches at Stamford Bridge, Azpilicueta remains focused and consistent, in spite of demanding managers like Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and currently Frank Lampard.

His determination to succeed has seen him win two Premier Leagues, two Europa Leagues, the FA Cup and the League Cup, as well as him being named Chelsea captain in 2019.
