10 Best Spanish Players In Premier League History

8. Juan Mata

It is remarkable to think that Juan Mata is yet to win a league title, given that he’s won nearly every other trophy under the sun.

Mata joined Chelsea from Valencia in 2011 and established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in the world. What he lacked in physicality, he made up for in his technical qualities, boasting incredible creativity and vision.

He managed an impressive 33 goals and 58 assists in 135 appearances for the Blues, winning the FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League, whilst also being named Chelsea Player of the Year twice in a row.

The return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge, signalled the end of the playmaker’s stay in London, who transferred to Manchester United in January 2014. At Old Trafford he has been a reliable presence in a struggling United side, although he never recaptured his scintillating form from Chelsea.

Despite this he has still managed to lift the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League with the Red Devils, to add to his stacked trophy cabinet that also includes the World Cup and European Championship.

The 32-year-old’s future is unclear at the moment, but Mata can still look back at his career with a lot of pride.
