Robinho arrived in Madrid having been dubbed the next big thing to emerge from Brazil thanks to his performances as a youngster in Santos.

The forward was praised by the likes of Pele before moving to the Bernabeu, so there was plenty expected of him when he did arrive in Spain.

He did make in excess of 100 appearances while in the Spanish capital, and during the 07/08 campaign he was a regular goal scorer who looked to finally be fulfilling his potential.

Robinho eventually moved to Man City in a controversial move after three years in Madrid, and he saw the inconsistencies which blighted his career in Spain continue in Manchester.

There's no way you can class Robinho as an all out failure for Madrid, but there's little doubting that given the expectation on his shoulders and the talent he possessed, that he never quite achieved what he or the club wanted from him.
