While other players in this list were tipped for stardom, Hyeon Chung went about his business in workmanlike fashion and it has already paid off with a career-high ranking of 51.

The South Korean surged up the rankings thanks to a couple of Challenger victories in quick succession but he soon adapted to the top tier and ended 2015 with 12 wins from 22 attempts - a superb return considering that he had only turned 19 midway through the year.

He defeated players that he would expect to beat but demolishing Aljaz Bedene in Shenzhen for the loss of just two games made a resounding statement.

He was the victim of some unlucky draws during the early part of 2016, being paired with Djokovic at the Australian Open and Goffin in Marseille, and three-set defeats to Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Denis Kudla suggest that he needs to rediscover his path on the ATP Tour.

Chung has time on his side, however. He may already be seen as an established part of the top 100 but he is still short of his 20th birthday. He has played 39 times on the main tour and there is every suggestion that over the next few years, he will be featuring at the business end of tournament on a regular basis.
