10 Biggest Transfer Shocks In Premier League History

7. Juan Sebastian Veron (Manchester United-Chelsea)

veron When you think of Premier League flops chances are Juan Sebastian Veron is the first name that comes to mind. Back in 2001 Veron become the most expensive transfer in Premiership history, signing for Manchester United from Lazio for a staggering £28million. Prior to his arrival at Old Trafford, Veron had been the driving force between Lazio€™s Serie A winning campaign in 2000 and arrived in Manchester on a wave of expectations. Unfortunately he could not live up to those reputations and it wasn€™t long before fans and media pundits were soon on his back. So after two hugely unsuccessfully seasons at Old Trafford the surprise in the tale came when Chelsea coughed up a staggering £15 million for the Argentinean flop. Needless to say United were laughing all the way to the bank when such a huge figure came in for him and they would have been laughing more so when at Stamford Bridge, like at Old Trafford Veron was a massive flop. The player was shipped out on loan to various clubs during his three years at The Bridge and failed to make any sort of real impact before heading home to Argentina and retiring.
