To step in the cage against a fighter who hasn’t lost in seven years and is deemed the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world is a daunting prospect for anyone. That was the challenge Chris Weidman faced when he fought Anderson Silva for the Middleweight world championship at UFC 162.

Weidman was expected to take the fight to the ground and that is exactly what he did, even coming close to a heel hook in the first round. However, Silva started the mind games and was goading Weidman to stand and trade with him, even having spells with his hands on his hips.

Anderson continued with games in the second, hands down and avoiding Weidman’s strikes with movement… until he was caught with the crisp left hook which saw Silva hit the mat.
