Mesut Özil should be a great Fantasy Football player, and in seasons gone by has been one of the best in the game.

The graceful playmaker is capable of producing a huge number of assists and can often get on the scoresheet too, but his fall out of favour at the Emirates has been mirrored by his fall in popularity in Fantasy Football.

As is well documented, Özil is one of the Premier League’s highest paid players, reportedly earning an eye-watering £350,000 a week.

But for reasons that have never been crystal clear, the German has been largely out of favour not only with Unai Emery, but also with Emery’s successor Mikel Arteta.

Özil started out the season priced at £7.5m, but started just 18 games and managed only one goal and three assists.

The 31-year-old brought home just 53 points in FPL – a long way away from his glory days of 2015/16 when he scored 200 points with six goals and 19 assists.
