10 Boxing Fights That Need To Be Made

1. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUbpaRWenV4 What can be said that already hasn't about these two getting it on? Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are the two biggest superstars in the world of boxing, both compete in the welterweight division and have occupied the no.1 pound-for-pound spot between them for most of the last decade, but have still yet to collide in the ring. They have flirted with the idea of taking each other on in recent years, but disagreements over drug testing and purse splits have stood in the way of contracts being signed. Mayweather's ongoing rift with this former promoter Bob Arum, of Top Rank, Inc,. is another stumbling block, as Pacquiao is currently signed with Arum's stable. Mayweather refuses to do business with Arum, so it will likely require Pacquiao leaving Top Rank after his contract expires following his April fight with Timothy Bradley. Another issue is that Mayweather is two fights into a six fight deal with Showtime, whilst Pacquiao fights on HBO. All boxing's politics are standing in the way of this one before the crucial negotiations over purse splits, drug testing and other contractual details potentially begin. Mayweather remains undefeated after 45 victories, his most recent being a 12 round decision win over Saul Alvarez, becoming the unified WBA/WBC light middleweight world champion. He is also the WBC champion at welterweight. Talk of this fight died down when Pacquiao lost successive bouts in 2012 to Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez, but talk hotted up again after his return 12-round domination of Brandon Rios back in November. As for the fight itself, Mayweather is a defensive wizard whose hand speed, timing and accuracy sees him land a lot more shots per round than he takes. Whilst Pacquiao has blistering speed of his own and power to match. Could Pacquiao be the man to knockout Mayweather or would Mayweather take Pacquiao to school, like he has most of his other opponents? Fans want to see the answer.
