10 Chelsea Heroes Whose Careers Have Nosedived Since Leaving

Ten pieces of silverware mean nothing when you can't make the Villa team...

Chelsea seem to have developed a reputation as something of a careless conveyor belt of talent, employing a host of under-pressure managers who will attempt to solve any tactical problem with yet another big-money splurge in the transfer market. Most reckon that the club are actually quite foolish in their transfer policies and not only do they spend vast amounts of cash on unproven and risky talent, but they actually let numerous players slip through their fingers before their prime. The likes of Arjen Robben, Juan Mata and most recently, Romelu Lukaku, had onlookers up in arms at Chelsea's 'naive' transfer policy. On closer inspection, however, it would appear that the club knows what it is doing when it comes to letting players go. While letting the devilishly devastating Dutchman go was a mistake, there have been a plethora of players whose careers have almost instantly taken a downhill slope once they set foot outside Stamford Bridge. Whether these former Blues have attempted to strike out alone and make it at a supposedly 'bigger' club or they were simply flogged in a ruthless manner by the west London outfit, they have certainly failed to scale the heights that earned them a hero-like status at Stamford Bridge. Take a look at the ten Chelsea heroes whose careers have taken a nosedive since leaving.
