10 Concerns Man Utd Should Have Ahead Of The New Season
4. Claims Of A Cull
Louis van Gaal is ready to wield the axe at Manchester United having had a chance to fully examine his squad of players during their pre-season tour of the United States. Recent reports suggest van Gaal is prepared to sell as many as six players this summer, with the likes of Shinji Kagawa, Marouane Fellaini, Tom Cleverley and Anderson all facing the chop. The likes of Cleverley and Anderson's departures wouldn't be greatly mourned by Stretford End supporters considering they're considered extraneous, however, Fellaini only joined 12 months ago and there are some who feel he should be given another season. Kagawa too is a popular player and evokes sympathy from some, who feel he hasn't been given much of an opportunity since signing from Dortmund. There's also the issue of United's squad being threadbare enough as it is. With the club still yet to replace either Rio Ferdinand OR Nemanja Vidic, the priority should be signing players not getting rid of them. There is a concern that United have already lost too many players and fans want to see new signings come through the Old Trafford door before van Gaal sanctions any more departures.
