10 Dangers Daniel Cormier Poses To Jon Jones

2. The Style To Steal Rounds From The Judges€™ Perspective

In a five round title fight, every round remains valuable. Unless you are a true knockout or submission specialist like Anderson Silva, you can€™t afford to give up rounds. Jon Jones needs to take that into perspective, especially in this matchup. Judges heavily favor fighters, who complete a takedown and are on top on the ground. That includes if they aren't even looking to strike or pass the guard of their respective opponent. Johny Hendricks vs. Carlos Condit was a prime example of that. Even though Hendricks took Condit down twelve times, Condit was far more active in utilizing short elbows off his back and looking for submissions. It didn€™t matter in the judges€™ eyes, as Hendricks landed his takedowns and remained on top. That fight should give an indication to fighters on how much wrestling is favored towards close decisions. Jones has to be wary about being on his back for a significant period of time, if he were to be taken down.
