8. Hendo vs. Jones
Here's one that Dana White was already in the midst of promoting when it fell apart. When it comes to this list, Dan Henderson vs. Jon Jones is probably the fight that came closest to happening. Posters were printed, tickets sold, the clock was ticking down - and then Dan Henderson announced he was out with an injury. In the normal course of things, the fight would either be rescheduled for a later card, or the injured fighter replaced. Someone with Henderson's name value would likely get his shot back after returning from injury to boot, so the fight could still happen. Not in this case. Henderson waited til the last moment to notify the UFC he was injured, in the hopes of making the card. Jones refused to fight Chael Sonnen last minute. The entire event that was to be headlined by the fight, UFC 151, was cancelled, the first time in Zuffa history that a UFC event had been cancelled (this is owed almost entirely to how weak the undercard was - it couldn't withstand the loss of its headlining bout). Henderson lost his shot, in part due to timing, and frankly in part due to how he handled the situation. He'd never get close to Jones again.
