The £26 million fee paid out for Roberto Soldado dwarfed the previous club record dished out for Paulinho in the same summer last year and he was widely expected to be the answer to Spurs niggling striker issues. However, rather than bagging the twenty or so that people expected, he scored just six Premier League goals in his first campaign only two of which came from open play, as he scored four penalties and really struggled to adapt to English football. The jury is still out with Soldado, but he has to start performing quickly if he is going to remove his flop label. This season, he has scored twice - albeit in the Europa League and Capital One Cup - and isn't starting in the Premier League. That said, he appears to be in the manager's plans and a prolonged run in the side with Erik Lamela behind him - a duo who seem to work very well together - could see him come good.
