Time: 6.06 seconds

It's great to be able to put Duane "Bang" Ludwig at the top of this list.

First, a little background: Ludwig is most known, these days, for being the striking coach that really turned things around for Urijah Faber's Team Alpha Male, and brought up T.J. Dillashaw's striking game to a point that he was able to defeat Renan Barao for the bantamweight title. However, prior to that, Ludwig was a feared striker in the UFC in his own right.

The nickname "Bang" fit him perfectly, and Ludwig had wars with B.J. Penn, Jens Pulver, Takanori Gomi, Josh Thompson, Paul Daley, Thomas Denny, Genki Sudo, Tony Fryklund, Sam Morgan, Yves Edwards, Ryan Roberts, and others.

His fight with Jonathan Goulet was something else entirely though, and here is where things get messy.

See, this fight took place in 2006 in Las Vegas at UFC Fight Night 3. The NSAC oversaw the fight, of course, and frankly, as they so often do, they blew it.

How? Well, the timekeeper from the commission fell asleep at the switch, probably not expecting someone to be knocked out in 6.06 seconds, which is all it took for Ludwig to put Goulet away. The official time from the commission wound up being 11 seconds - and according to them, that number stands today.

Well, with their track record, who can blame Dana White for launching his own investigation into the matter, in December 2011.

Getting it right, and proving that Dana White really can be an effective president at times, White actually took his time, examined the fight (which had been discussed for years) and released the video you see above, along with a tweet to Ludwig that gave him the official UFC record for fastest knockout as a belated Christmas gift.

At long last Ludwig got the official recognition he deserved, and his UFC profile page now lists him as owning the official fastest knockout at 6.06 seconds.
