England international goalkeeper Richard Wright will go down in Premier League history as having one of the more bizarre careers we have ever seen.

After breaking onto the scene with Ipswich Town in the mid-90s, Wright earned a move to Premier League giants Arsenal after clocking up over 200 appearances for the Tractor Boys.

Marked out as the potential England number one for years to come, there was a huge expectation on Wright when he moved to the Gunners, with an ageing David Seaman coming to the end of his shelf-life as a top-flight stopper.

However, after moving to Arsenal, Wright's career seemed to go on something of a downward spiral, as the regular appearances dried up and questions were raised about his ability to make it at the very top.

Despite this, he still managed to make enough appearances throughout 2001/02 season to ensure he landed himself a Premier League winners medal.

He will class his solitary season in North London as a success, although his career overall suffered after he did leave Arsenal.

His only regular football came in spells at Everton and Ipswich Town once again. Amazingly, Wright managed to spend four years on the books at Manchester City without making a single appearance as he wound his career down.
