10 Former Players Leeds Utd Could Do With Now

4. Fabian Delph

Some would say that in the last 12 to 18 months, Fabian Delph has finally stepped forward and began to realise his potential. Having coming through the Leeds United youth ranks, the combative box-to-box midfielder was tipped for big things following a season of excellence form in League One.
€œOur position is very simple - Fabian Delph is not for sale, nor will he be in the future. Fabian€™s going to be a Premiership player, but he€™s going to be a Premiership player with Leeds.€ - Leeds owner Ken Bates, November 2008.
Upon signing for Aston Villa in the summer of 2009, the 19 year old struggled for game-time and played just 26 league games before spending a month back on loan at Elland Road in 2012. Since his return, however, he has been a revelation, his commandeering presence in the middle of the park proving to be one of the only bright sparks of a dismal last couple of seasons at Villa Park. His performances have been so impressive that he was voted last season€™s Supporters€™ Player of the Year, and received his first England caps in September against Norway and Switzerland. How Leeds would love to have their 08/09 Young Player of the Year back at the club nowadays.
