10 Former Players Spurs Could Do With Now

10. Steven Caulker

It was only two years ago that Steven Caulker was on his way to international stardom, having netted during his debut appearance against Sweden for the Three Lions in November 2012. By the end of the game, Zlatan Ibrahimovic had tortured the Spurs centre-half to within an inch of his life, scoring all four goals. Caulker never did play for England again. Following a fine season on loan at Swansea City in the top-flight, Caulker appeared 18 times in the Premier League for Spurs during the 12/13 season, before being shipped out to Cardiff City for a fee believed to be in excess of £8 million. It was a surprising move considering the youngster€™s impressive performances at White Hart Lane the previous season. Last season, Caulker was an ever-present for the Welsh club as they slipped into the mire of the relegation dogfight - one which they ultimately succumbed to. It looks like the 22 year old will be fighting yet another battle at the wrong end of the table with QPR this season, but considering the hapless nature of Spurs€™ centre-halves so far this term - step forward Younes Kaboul and Federico Fazio - Caulker might just have wished he had waited it out for his chance in north London.
