10 Former Players West Ham Could Do With Now

10. Rob Green

Two years ago, former West Ham hero Rob Green's career was in danger of sliding into an abyss. He had just endured a nightmarish debut to forget, conceding five goals at home against Swansea City, and QPR boss Mark Hughes was already planning to replace his newly-acquired number one with former Champions League winner Julio Cesar. Green is now back in the fold at Loftus Road and is finally showing the form that earned him a move to the Hoops in the first place - the mercenary that stole his first-team place during their last foray into the top-flight is but a memory. Green spent six years at West Ham between the years of 2006 and 2012, and only left the club following their promotion to the Premier League due to a failure to agree contract terms. It was his form during his time at Upton Park which earned him 12 England caps - although his howler to gift the USA an equaliser in the 2010 World Cup will forever be a permanent blotch on his international career. West Ham's Adrian was certainly an unknown quantity prior to his ousting of Jussi Jaaskelainen between the posts midway through last season - he had spent one season playing La Liga football with Real Betis and his previous years in the B side. The 27 year old has performed well enough for West Ham thus far but is still prone to the odd error here and there. Unspectacular but solid enough, there isn't much to separate himself and Green. West Ham supporters will forever remember their former English international's heroics during their 'Great Escape' seven years ago, however.
