10 Future Premier League Stars

2. Gaston Ramirez €“ Southampton

One of the least-predictable transfers of the entire window was the move of this Uruguayan wonderkid to the English south coast. While most promoted teams prefer experience over promise, this purchase could either be a huge success or a massive failure with catastrophic consequences. While the 21-year-old shows plenty of potential, that€™s all it is at the moment. He has all the raw tools to become one of the best attacking midfielders in the league but it is up to Nigel Adkins to create an environment where the former Bologna player can progress naturally €“ which isn€™t going to be easy in a relegation scrap. Ramirez is a wonderful little playmaker, drifting in-and-out of space to create chance after chance, but that may prove to be another issue for the newly promoted team. While he is highly productive in the final third he rarely tracks back, which could cause problems for them if they don€™t dominate possession. Ramirez is guaranteed to be a started for Southampton and he won€™t be afforded time to settle.
