When Helder Postiga signed for Spurs in 2003, he was considered to be one of the best up and coming strikers in Europe. The Portuguese forward cost the club £6.25 million, having scored 22 goals in 32 league starts for Porto, and was already a full Portugal international at the age of 20. However, he emphatically failed to deliver for the club, as Spurs failed to get anything worthwhile out of one of Europe's best young stars. Postiga score once in nineteen Premier League games - ten of those appearances coming from the bench - and he was sold back to Porto for a loss of just over £1 million just over a year later. He remains a Portugal international to this day and he plays for Deportivo La Coruna, but he has never hit the same goalscoring form he showed at Porto prior to his arrival at White Hart Lane.
