Manchester United's stunning acquisition of Robin van Persie in 2012 proved to be a masterstroke as he fired them back to the Premier League glory.

The Dutchman continued from where he left in the previous season with the Gunners, and scored at will once again.

He notched up 26 goals overall, including the title-sealing hat-trick against Aston Villa, and won his second consecutive Golden Boot.

Van Persie was so prolific that he was almost in a league of his own. He even contributed 15 assists and also ensured his sterling exploits gave the outgoing manager Sir Alex Ferguson the perfect send-off.
