Toure had made his name at Barcelona as a world-class defensive midfielder, dovetailing to devastating effect with the more talented, attack-minded duo of Xavi and Andres Iniesta. He wasn't seen as a flair player when he joined Manchester City in 2010, but it was soon very clear that his brilliant talent had been negated somewhat during his three years at Camp Nou. He immediately showed that he could do everything in middle of the park, whether it be run, create, score, tackle or inspire others around him. He has been phenomenal in the four years since, producing in the big games time and time again and proving unstoppable on his day. The fact he is 6"4 tall and extremely strong and quick outlines why he is such a formidable player when he's running at an opponent. Toure has won two Premier League titles with City, and he was one of the stars of the team during both triumphant campaigns. Last season he scored 24 goals in 49 games, which from midfield is frightening. At 31, his brilliance may be on the wane slightly, but he is undeniably one of the best foreign midfielders we have seen over the last 20-odd years.
