While "hard" might not necessarily the right word for Michael Brown, the combative midfielder was certainly excessively hard in the tackle - especially for a player in the modern era. In fact, some of his tackles over the years have been nothing short of ridiculous. He also definitely fancied himself as a hard man and, while that might not be the case, he definitely wasn't the kind of player most opponents looked forward to playing against. Brown joined Spurs in January of 2004 and made fifty Premier League appearances for the club until his departure to Fulham almost exactly two years later. He came in, was unspectacular, but came in and did the job he was asked to do - which was to give the team a bit of bite - and that's all you can ask of any player.
