10 Hardest Man To Ever Play For Spurs

4. Neil Ruddock

Neil "Razor" Ruddock was a central defender who played for Spurs between 1992 and 1993. Voted in a recent poll as the seventeenth "hardest footballer of all time", Ruddock earned the nickname "Razor" due to his rough and tough no-nonsense style of play - and it was a nickname taken from the Canadian heavyweight boxer Donovan "Razor" Ruddock, which says all you need to know. Ruddock was a controversial player who had persistent disciplinary problems - for instance, he fractured Peter Beardsley's jaw with his elbow in a testimonial match and broke both of Andy Cole's legs in a reserve game (about which he has since said "I didn't mean to break both of his legs if I'm honest, I only meant to break one") - and he also had trouble with his weight, but the extra bulk he had seemed to only serve as a means of making his tackles and physical presence even more fierce than they already were.
