Sure, he's coming off a loss, but it's hard to argue with a Golden Gloves boxer who has proven capable of standing toe-to-toe with the best strikers in the UFC heavyweight division. It's also hard to hold that loss against him when it came to one of the best fighters of all time in Daniel Cormier.

Mark Hunt? Knocked him out. Andrei Arlovski? Knocked him out. Fabricio Werdum? Knocked him out. Junior dos Santos? Knocked him out. Alistair Overeem? Knocked him... you see where this is going.

The collection of scalps Stipe Miocic has collected from knocking out fellow UFC heavyweights is impressive to say the least. Which is why the firefighter (yes, he still keeps a day job) became the most storied UFC champion in history. It's why he was able to surpass names like Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez when it comes to defending the title, which changes hands so very often in the 265lb division.
