Froch v Groves II: 10 Big Things We Hope Happen

4. An Amazing Spectacle

https://twitter.com/Carl_Froch/status/472103340097433600 The fight on Saturday opens up a new era and legacy in boxing: in 2007, Joe Calzaghe and Mikkel Kessler drew 50,000 fans in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff; 2008 saw 57,000 turn up to watch Ricky Hatton at the City of Manchester stadium and in 2014 80,000 fans will turn up to watch Carl Froch v George Groves II. The fight was an instant sell out in an hour with 60,000 tickets sold, and several discussion with promoter Eddie Hearn over venues such as Old Trafford, The Emirates were considered until the possibility of 80,000 people watching a boxing match seemed a reality. With the 80,000 fans the energy should be electrifying and atmosphere like a World Cup Final. The attendance should be the third highest in British history and needs to be a great spectacle for the first boxing match at Wembley Stadium. Although both fighters will have their game face on when they walk out, as they look up to the top tier and see history being created, it's hard not to imagine that both will stand in awe of the occasion.
