When Dennis Bergkamp left Inter Milan for Arsenal in 1995, excited Gunners' fans hailed the signing of one of the most exciting players in European football. Bergkamp certainly didn't disappoint, scoring 87 goals on his way to becoming a firm fan favourite in North London.

Bergkamp who was selected by soccer legend Pelé as one of FIFA's greatest 100 players of all time, had an unusual request for the London club when he signed on. He suffered from a fear of flying and refused to travel by plane to any matches.

This posed a number of logistical problems when Arsenal were playing in Europe, but 'The "Non-Flying Dutchman" as he became known, was not for turning on that particular issue. Despite not taking to the skies, the reluctant plane passenger's longevity at the club remained unaffected. He spent eleven fruitful seasons at Highbury as he went on to become a club legend.
