This situation has been able to drag on for far too long. Newcastle's captain has been linked with both Greek side Olympiacos and a reunion with former Magpies boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace this summer- and as of yet Steve McClaren has been unable to give a definitive answer as to where Fabricio Coloccini will be come September. The Toon boss may have stated on Saturday that Newcastle remains Coloccini's "preferred choice" of club, but the Argentine defender did not play a single minute of pre-season football for Newcastle. Is Coloccini part of McClaren's plans? Or is he not? Because the uncertainty around the Toon captain's future is not doing Newcastle any favours right about now.
